Free 100 Foot Hose - Thrifty Treasure
Hey TeamMax,
It's Uncle Max here with another “quick and dirty, done is better than perfect” video. In this Thrifty Treasures segment, I show you how I scored a high-quality, free 100 foot garden hose, by knowing the value of something, having a “Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose, Recycle” mindset, The kind of philosophy we will all have if we're trapped in a long-term emergency scenario tell her where nothing else is being produced and delivered on a daily basis. Also, knowing how to fix it quickly, and already having the parts on hand and the tools necessary.
I happened to notice a new looking hose piled at the top of a garbage can, when I was taking mine out. After closer inspection, I realized it was almost completely intact, and that if it had a leak somewhere, it would be a quick and easy splice, and I could upgrade from my old hose that was on its last leg. It also had a cool feature on the female end of the hose which would allow someone with the weakened grip, as I have from my arthritis and tendonitis, to be able to firm tighten the hose on to the faucet without it leaking.
Check out a link to a Kwik Tip on how to always have your garden hose ready for action, even in the winter, to fill up a radiator, fight a small fire before it becomes a raging one, top off a hot tub or pool, etc. You want it staged next to the insulated hose bib or hydrant, ready to hook up and immediately, coiled on a hose reel that you can move anywhere in a snap, with no water in it to freeze up and cause ice plugs. I’ll show you how to quickly do that right after you used it last.
