Save Old Wiper Blades As Emergency Backup
Hey TeamMax,
It’s your Uncle Max here, with another “Quick & Dirty, Done is Better Than Perfect” video Kwik Tip. Have you ever had one of your wiper blades fail on you in the middle of a horrible rain or snow storm, with muddy, slushy water splashing up onto your windshield, and you couldn't see for a few seconds or not very well? Kind of terrifying, isn't it?
In this tip we talk about why it's important to save your most recent wiper blades that still have a little bit of life left in it, when you upgrade to newer ones. Do this in case you have a catastrophic failure of one of your blades while you're on the road and away from the convenience of a nearby auto parts store like AutoZone ( I like all auto parts stores, but check back here for a link to why I prefer AutoZone, and how they have the best rewards program and other great benefits).
You'll see what happened to mine, and why we should have a backup just in case. We also talk about the importance of treating your windshield with a water repellent, and how it's way safer, like when somebody splashes muddy water up onto your windshield. It just sheets up and falls off almost instantly, Restoring your view quickly, instead of the panic you feel when the murky water is hanging around for a few seconds while your wiper blades are frantically trying to clear it.
Remember, a wise person learns from someone else's mistake! I didn't mention it in the video, but I’ll mention it here, but it's important to always clean your windshield when you are fueling up. I will do a complete walk around of my routine that I always do whenever receiving or turning in a vehicle that was assigned to me, As I did in the military or as an EMT/security officer, or every time I am filling up my own POVs ( Personally-Owned Vehicles). so, stay tuned for a link here when I get that video edited and posted. it's just so important to be consistent with your vehicle maintenance safety; you don't want to be that guy that runs over somebody because they couldn't see through their windshield.
Until next time, drive safe!
